Care Instructions
Here you will find everything you need to know about looking after your portrait so it lasts for many years.
Handling your artwork
-
Handle with care when unwrapping your drawing.
-
Remove the packaging carefully to prevent damage.
-
Lift the glassine paper protecting your portrait carefully without sliding it.
-
Do not touch the drawing or talk close to the drawing to prevent saliva landing on it.
-
Store in its original packaging until framing.
-
Frame as soon as possible. A professional framer knowledgeable with pastels is preferred.
Framing Instructions
-
Make sure to use museum, regular, UV or non-glare glass, DO NOT use acrylic or plexiglass to prevent static which will remove pastel dust from the artwork.
-
Ensure the pastel work never touches the frame. Use a mount if provided by me or one you acquire. Otherwise, frame spacers will ensure the art remains away from the glass.
-
Do not spray with fixative, this has already been done by me.
-
Once framed, do not hammer anything into the back of the frame as this can dislodge the pastel.
-
Display your artwork away from areas of direct sunlight and excessive humidity. I use only the highest quality pastels with excellent lightfastness, ensuring your drawing will be long lasting with the proper care.
